The Directorate General of Immigration in Indonesia, Felucia Sengky Ratna has introduced new regulations for extending the Visa on Arrival Indonesia Indonesia (VoA) and visit visas for foreign nationals.
Under the new policy, VoA holders must complete a verification process at the immigration office according to the foreigner’s domicile when applying for a visa extension while in Indonesia.
This provision is outlined in Article 97 of Indonesia’s Ministerial Regulation on Law and Human Rights No. 11 of 2024.
This verification process ensures that foreign visitors have submitted and paid for their Visa on Arrival Indonesia or visa extension before the current visa expires, helping to prevent overstay situations.
Although this step requires verification, visitors can still submit their VoA extension applications online via the evisa.imigrasi.go.id website, after the VoA extension application is entered into the system, officers at the immigration office will check the foreigner’s data,
“Applying for an extension of an Indonesian visa on arrival can be submitted online, whether using an electronic VoA (e-VoA) or a sticker-based VoA obtained upon arrival at airport immigration counters.” Said Felucia, as reported by rri.go.id .
Online Appication for Visa Extension
For foreigners who hold a visit visa with a validity period of 60 days and wish to extend their stay, they are required to have an Indonesian citizen as their sponsor. This provision refers to Article 98 of Indonesia’s Ministerial Regulation on Law and Human Rights No 22 of 2023.
“So, if a foreigner plans to stay in Indonesia for more than 60 days, it’s best to arrange a sponsor early in the visa application process. However, if the stay is less than 60 days, they may apply for a Visa on Arrival Indonesia or a visit visa without needing a sponsor.” Said Felucia.
Felucia further explained the online application process for extending a Visa on Arrival (VoA) or any visa in Indonesia. Simply visit https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/, fill out the application form, and complete the payment.
