During the G20 Summit in Brazil, President Prabowo Subianto conveyed his commitment to enhancing the business environment in Indonesia to attract foreign investment.
Continuing this trend, he has now called on India to collaborate in the health and education sectors by inviting doctors, academics, and medical experts to Indonesia.

In a recent bilateral meeting at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto highlighted Indonesia’s urgent need for medical personnel, noting a shortage of 160,000 doctors.
During his discussion with Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, President Prabowo expressed his hope that India could send professors and specialist doctors to teach at Indonesian universities.
“We hope to enhance cooperation with India, particularly through the sending of professors and specialist doctors to teach at our universities,” said President Prabowo, as quoted from a press release by the Presidential Secretariat’s Press, Media, and Information Bureau, Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
President Prabowo emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the health and medical sectors. This is part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to address critical gaps in the healthcare sector by welcoming foreign expertise and innovation.
By inviting professors and specialist doctors from India to teach at Indonesian universities, the government aims to elevate the quality of medical education and healthcare services in the country.
Welcoming Foreign Investment in the Health Sector
In addition, the Indonesian Head of State also welcomed the interest of Indian companies in the health sector, including the pharmaceutical industry and the opening of branches of foreign hospitals in Indonesia.
Not limited to the health and education sectors, Prabowo also discussed cooperation opportunities in the trade sector. One of the main focuses of the meeting was the import of rice from India, which is expected to reach an agreement soon.
“Indonesia and India have a long and very good relationship. We highly value this relationship and are committed to enhancing it in various fields,” added Prabowo.

“Indonesia is open to more business and investment. I am committed to protecting all investments and creating an economic environment that is organized, free, fair, and advantageous,” the President said.
President Prabowo acknowledged that the private sector expects Indonesia to provide a stable economic, political, and security climate. He assured that foreign investments in Indonesia would be protected, highlighting the private sector’s need for certainty within a robust legal framework.
“We are offering attractive incentives as part of our ongoing efforts. We have liberalized our laws to accommodate these changes,” Prabowo stated in a video shared on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on November 15.
