What Is the Second Home Visa?

The Second Home Visa offers a long-term stay option for foreigners who want to live in Indonesia without working locally. It suits individuals who want stability and flexible living arrangements while enjoying Bali’s lifestyle. The stay covers either 5 or 10 years based on eligibility.

Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet several requirements:

  • A valid passport with adequate validity.
  • Proof of funds placed in an Indonesian bank account.
  • Evidence of property ownership in Indonesia if using the property route.
  • A clean legal record.
  • An application submitted through Indonesia’s official e-visa system.
  • Arrival in Indonesia within the given entry timeframe after approval.

These requirements ensure only financially capable applicants receive this long-term stay opportunity.

Who Is It Best For?

The Second Home Visa works best for:

  • Retirees seeking stability.
  • Long-term Bali residents prioritizing lifestyle.
  • High-net-worth individuals who own property.
  • Digital nomads who do not work for Indonesian employers.

It offers a straightforward option for those who want extended residency without business obligations.

What Is the Golden Visa?

The Golden Visa serves foreigners who plan to contribute to Indonesia’s economy through investment or business activities. It targets entrepreneurs, founders, skilled talent, and investors who want to establish deeper roots in the country.

Requirements

The Golden Visa requires a higher level of commitment. Applicants typically need:

  • A substantial investment in Indonesian companies or financial instruments.
  • Legal documents proving their business activities.
  • Strong financial capability.
  • Compliance with Indonesia’s immigration and security regulations.
  • Supporting documents that demonstrate the value of their planned contribution.

These factors help Indonesia attract serious investors and skilled professionals.

Who Is It Best For?

This visa suits:

  • Foreign investors building new enterprises.
  • Entrepreneurs seeking an Indonesian business presence.
  • Skilled individuals who qualify based on achievements.
  • High-capital founders looking for premium immigration benefits.

It offers priority services and benefits designed for individuals who support national development.

Which Visa Is Best for Long-Term Stay in Bali?

Choosing between these visas depends on your long-term goals in Bali. If you want a secure and comfortable long-term stay without managing a business, the Second Home Visa offers a simpler option. It focuses on lifestyle, financial stability, and maintaining a legally secure presence in Indonesia for extended periods.

However, if you plan to invest or build a company, the Golden Visa offers more value. It rewards economic contribution with priority services and longer-term security. Your choice depends on whether you seek a relaxed lifestyle or a business-oriented pathway.
