The DGT Online Tax Filing deadline has been extended. The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) has officially moved the original March 31, 2025, deadline to April 11, 2025. This change provides taxpayers with additional time to complete their Annual Tax Return (SPT) without facing penalties.

Why the DGT Online Tax Filing Deadline Was Extended

The government decided to extend the deadline because of the long holiday period at the end of March and early April. The national holidays for Nyepi (Saka New Year 1947) and Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri overlap with the original tax filing deadline. Additionally, the extended collective leave runs until April 7, 2025, leaving fewer working days for taxpayers to complete their submissions.

To address this issue, the DGT issued Decree No. 79/PJ/2025 on March 25, 2025, officially moving the deadline to April 11, 2025. This measure ensures fairness and provides clarity for taxpayers who may struggle to file on time due to the limited number of working days.

Government’s Decision to Waive Late Penalties

Along with extending the deadline, the government has also waived penalties for late tax payments and SPT filings for the 2024 tax year. This decision specifically applies to Income Tax (PPh) Article 29 payments and the submission of individual tax returns (WP OP).

DGT’s Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations, Dwi Astuti, confirmed the administrative relief: “The removal of administrative sanctions is granted by not issuing a Tax Collection Letter (STP). Even if submitted after the deadline of March 31, 2025, taxpayers will not face penalties as long as they complete the process by April 11, 2025.” Dwi said, as reported by ANTARA.

This policy ensures that taxpayers who file within the new timeframe will not incur late fees. However, the government urges individuals to take advantage of the extension and submit their returns as soon as possible to avoid last-minute issues.

How to Complete DGT Online Tax Filing Before April 11

Taxpayers must use the DJP Online system to submit their SPT before the new deadline. Follow these step-by-step instructions to make your filing process seamless.

  1. Access DJP Online: Visit https://djponline.pajak.go.id/account/login.
  2. Login: Enter your Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP), password, and security code.
  3. Review Your Tax Data: Ensure all information is accurate before proceeding.
  4. Select e-Filing: Click “Create SPT” and follow the instructions.
  5. Complete the Form: Fill in the required details carefully.
  6. Submit Your Return: After reviewing, click “Submit SPT” and enter the verification code sent via email or SMS.
  7. Save Your Proof of Submission: Once submitted, you will receive an Electronic Receipt (BPE) via email.

Completing these steps early helps taxpayers avoid system congestion and technical issues closer to the deadline.

What This Means for Taxpayers

The deadline extension and penalty waivers reflect the government’s commitment to fairness and legal certainty. By considering the impact of national holidays, the DGT ensures taxpayers have enough time to comply with regulations without unnecessary financial burdens.

For many individuals, this extension provides a crucial opportunity to gather necessary documents, verify financial records, and avoid penalties. It also highlights the government’s flexibility in accommodating public needs while maintaining tax compliance.

Final Reminder: Avoid Late Submissions Despite the Extension

Although the deadline has been moved, taxpayers should still file as early as possible. Procrastination could lead to unexpected issues, such as system slowdowns or missing required documents.

To ensure compliance and avoid last-minute stress, taxpayers should take advantage of the DGT Online Tax Filing extension well before April 11, 2025. For official details, visit the DJP Online portal at pajak.go.id.
