Home » Indonesia Visa Requirements 2025: What Foreigners Should Know

Indonesia’s visa requirements for 2025 have evolved to make traveling and staying in the country more convenient for foreigners. With new digital systems, simplified procedures, and updated visa categories, understanding these requirements is essential for anyone planning to visit Indonesia this year. Whether you’re traveling for leisure, work, or investment, staying informed helps ensure a smooth arrival and hassle-free stay.

Overview of Indonesia’s 2025 Visa Policy Updates

  • Arrival Card
  • Health Declaration
  • Customs Declaration

Travelers can now complete all requirements online within three days before arrival and receive a QR code for faster entry. This update marks a major step toward a paperless immigration system and a more efficient airport experience. Other changes include easier online extensions for tourist visas and clearer regulations for new long-term visa options.

Types of Visas Available for Foreigners

Tourist Visa

The B1 Visa on Arrival (VOA) is ideal for travelers from eligible countries visiting Indonesia for up to 30 days. It costs IDR 500,000 and can be extended once for another 30 days at a local immigration office. For longer stays, visitors can apply for a Tourism Single Entry Visa, valid for 60 days and extendable through the official immigration website.

Citizens from ASEAN nations and select countries, including Brazil, Hong Kong, and Türkiye, may enter Indonesia without a visa for up to 30 days under the Visa Exemption Program.

Business Visa

Foreigners traveling for business meetings, investments, or negotiations can apply for a Business Visa. Options include single or multiple entries, with each visit allowing a stay of up to 60 days. Applicants must have a local company sponsor to support their visa application.

Work Visa

Those seeking employment in Indonesia need a Limited Stay Visa (KITAS). This visa requires a confirmed job offer and sponsorship from an Indonesian employer. KITAS holders can legally work and reside in the country for the duration of their contract.

Second Home & Golden Visa

The Second Home Visa caters to retirees and high-net-worth individuals who wish to stay long-term without local sponsorship. Meanwhile, the Golden Visa attracts investors, professionals, and entrepreneurs contributing to Indonesia’s economy. Both visas support extended residency and investment opportunities.

Required Documents and Common Mistakes

Before applying for a visa, prepare the following essential documents:

  • Passport valid for at least six months
  • Recent passport-sized photo
  • Proof of onward or return flight
  • Financial proof or sponsor letter (depending on visa type)
  • Health and customs declarations via All Indonesia

Avoid these common mistakes to prevent delays:

  1. Submitting incomplete online forms
  2. Using unofficial websites that charge extra fees
  3. Applying too early or too late (forms must be completed within three days before arrival)

Being careful with these details ensures a faster and smoother visa approval process.
