Indonesian government is pushing for a stronger business climate. At the Indonesia Economic Summit 2025, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan issued a firm warning. He stated that officials who hinder businesses should be removed from their positions.

He emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto is committed to making Indonesia more attractive to investors. To achieve this, the government aims to remove bureaucratic obstacles that slow business growth. A streamlined business environment will enhance economic progress and create more opportunities for entrepreneurs.

Luhut’s Message: No Tolerance for Business Roadblocks

Luhut made it clear that obstructive officials will not be tolerated. He encouraged business owners to report any difficulties they face. “If there are complaints, just come to us. If I can’t handle it, I’ll report it to the President,” he stated as reported by idntimes.com.

He also urged Prabowo to take strict action. “Why keep people who create problems in the government? If you don’t remove them, Mr. President, you will not succeed,” he added. His message reinforced the administration’s stance on a corruption-free and business-friendly environment. Removing inefficient officials will allow for a more dynamic economy, where businesses can thrive without unnecessary restrictions.

Strengthening Business in Indonesia: Private Sector’s Key Role

Luhut highlighted the private sector’s crucial role in Indonesia’s economic growth. He pointed out that 85% of the economy relies on private companies. The government recognizes this and seeks to support businesses by removing unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles.

Simplifying regulations and ensuring smooth business operations will help drive long-term economic progress. By eliminating corruption and inefficiency, Indonesia can become a more attractive destination for investors. A strong private sector fosters job creation, innovation, and financial stability, making it essential for sustainable development.

Reporting Issues: Encouraging Transparency and Accountability

The government urges businesses to report any officials who demand unnecessary requirements or slow down processes. “Once again, don’t hesitate. If a government official asks for unnecessary things, just report it,” Luhut stated. Encouraging transparency will create a fairer business environment and strengthen investor confidence.

The administration believes that strict oversight will lead to a more accountable government. A culture of openness and accountability is necessary to build trust between business owners and the government.

Government Policies and Business in Indonesia: Aligning Interests

Luhut acknowledged that government policies must align with business needs. He pointed out that some regulations work well for the government but not for businesses. “Sometimes, the government thinks the system they create works for them, but it may not benefit businesses,” he explained.

He urged policymakers to involve business owners when drafting regulations. By considering both perspectives, the government can create policies that support sustainable economic growth. Collaboration between government institutions and the private sector is crucial to fostering an environment where businesses can operate efficiently and contribute to national progress.

A Pro-Business Future for Indonesia

Luhut’s statement underscores the government’s commitment to a stronger business environment. By removing uncooperative officials and streamlining regulations, Indonesia can attract more investment.

Transparency and accountability will further support economic stability. With a pro-business approach, Indonesia aims to become a key player in the global market. By fostering a reliable and efficient system, the nation can boost its economic performance, attract global investors, and ensure long-term prosperity for its citizens.
